Yes, you heard that right. Ubuntu Linux is the best tool to resuscitate your Windows system. And you don’t even have to install it on your hard drive. Eric Geier shows you how.

If you're a do-it-yourself kind of entrepreneur, you know it never hurts to have extra tools in your small business technology tool box. This one might surprise you. Ubuntu's LiveCD mode does a great job getting your data off of the hard drive before you reinstall Windows. LinuxPlanet.com has the step-by-step tutorial.

We're going to use Ubuntu's LiveCD mode. Ubuntu is a popular Linux distribution that's a free and open source alternative to Windows. The LiveCD mode lets you boot into and use the operating system (OS) without installing anything on the computer.
