Intuit Expands Small Business Products and Services

Intuit's not just for small business accounting anymore. You can add social media and marketing tool to the list of tasks the company offers entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Intuit has been a major player in the small business market for so many years, that it's practically synonymous with small business accounting. But what, you might ask, has Intuit done for you lately?

Laurie McCabe, a small business analyst and co-founder of the SMB Group, examines how the venerable stalwart, so well known for its small business accounting software and back-office services, is expanding beyond back-office number crunching and moving into the front office with products designed to help entrepreneurs and small businesses win customers and increase revenue.


Intuit Acquires Demandforce and Moves into the Front Office

Intuit announced last week that it was acquiring Demandforce, which provides an integrated suite of Web-based social media and marketing tools for small businesses, for $423.5 million in cash. Demandforce automates many of the internet and social media marketing tasks that small businesses increasingly need to do, giving Intuit a proven front office play: Demandforce already has about 15,000 customers, books about $50 million annually in revenue, and is growing at about 80 percent annually.
